MARLIN

Threats at sea and in the air are becoming increasingly difficult to detect. MARLIN is working on an intelligent surveillance solution that combines cameras, sensors, and artificial intelligence to detect, identify, and track drones and other suspicious objects more quickly.

Maritime security stakeholders today have access to vast amounts of sensor data, but often lack integrated systems capable of automatically detecting anomalous behaviour and identifying relevant threats. In addition, many existing solutions rely on non-European technologies, raising concerns about autonomy and strategic independence.

MARitime AI-enabled Long-range Intelligence Network

MARLIN combines thermal and visual observation, autonomous camera control, anomaly detection, and sensor fusion to detect and identify maritime threats more quickly and reliably. The demonstrator focuses on the protection of ports, coastal areas, and critical maritime infrastructure.

Objective

MARLIN aims to enhance the detection and identification of maritime and airborne threats by combining advanced observation systems with artificial intelligence.

Approach

The project develops a next-generation FLIR PTZ platform with advanced AI capabilities, including anomaly detection, autonomous target tracking. Through realistic demonstration scenarios, the system will be challenged to detect, classify, and continuously track potential threats over long distances in complex operational environments.
