Discover the future of Flanders at the FTI Festival and Flanders NEXT
FTI Festival: innovation for the future
The FTI Festival brings together businesses, researchers, governments and citizens around one central question: how do we build tomorrow’s society today? Through exhibitions, events and interactive experiences in eight Flemish cities, you will discover how technology, innovation and entrepreneurship contribute to a sustainable and resilient future.
The festival focuses on a wide range of societal challenges. From health and mobility to energy, climate and water, experience how Flemish organisations are already working today on the solutions of tomorrow.
Flanders NEXT: experience the Flanders of tomorrow
The beating heart of the festival is Flanders NEXT, the major exhibition at the Nekkerhal in Mechelen. Across 6,000 square metres, more than 500 stories, installations and interactive experiences take you into the Flanders of tomorrow. Flanders NEXT runs from 20 October to 7 November.
What will our healthcare system look like in the future? What role will AI and data play in our daily lives? How will we build and manufacture using fewer raw materials? And how will we live, work, exercise and travel? Across four immersive worlds, Planet Solutions, DigiTech, Creative Culture and Future Living, you will discover how technology and imagination provide answers to tomorrow’s challenges.
From 3D-printed implants and robots for weed control to smart applications for energy, water and industry, Flanders NEXT makes innovation tangible. It is not an exhibition you simply observe, but an interactive experience where you discover for yourself how Flanders is already building tomorrow today.
Innovation with nature for the coast of tomorrow
Blue Cluster is also contributing to Flanders NEXT. Within the Planet Solutions world, you will discover how nature and technology can reinforce each other to create a safe, attractive and climate-resilient coastline.
Through interactive visualisations and demonstrations, you will be introduced to nature-based solutions for coastal management. You will discover how natural processes can contribute to coastal protection while also creating opportunities for biodiversity, recreation and quality of life. In this way, you gain a glimpse of the coastline of the future and the innovative solutions that are already being developed today.
