DEEP GUARD

Critical maritime infrastructure must be protected against collisions and unauthorised intrusions both on and below the water surface. DEEP GUARD designs and tests a physical security barrier aimed at improving the protection of ports, waterways, and other vulnerable locations.

Critical infrastructure is increasingly facing risks from fast-moving vessels, autonomous systems, and underwater platforms. There is a growing need for robust physical security solutions that can slow down or stop these threats. DEEP GUARD is therefore developing a physical security barrier designed to protect ports, waterways, and other critical maritime infrastructure against both surface and underwater threats.

Technical render

Objective

The project aims to demonstrate that the security barrier can be deployed in real operational environments and provide protection against a range of threat scenarios in maritime settings.

Approach

The technology will be tested through demonstration activities involving vessel impact tests and simulated UUV (unmanned underwater vehicle) targets. The results will support the further certification and commercialisation of the technology. The first demonstration took place during the Port of the Future event in the Port of Antwerp Bruges.
